China Airlines has appointed Mr. Shing-Hwang Kao as
President.
Kao, a veteran of China Airlines with 35 years of
experience stretching from front-line units all the way up to
executive management. previously served as a Senior Vice President of of
the Taiwan-based airline.
Kao joined China Airlines as a flight attendant in
1986 after graduating from the Department of Transportation
Management at National Cheng Kung University.
He was among the
first batch of trainees chosen that went to North Dakota in the US
for flight training as part of China Airlines’ internal pilot
training program. Upon his return to Taiwan, Kao rose through the
ranks as First Officer, Captain, Check Pilot and Instructor Pilot
before joining the management team in 2003.
Further positions
included Assistant Chief Pilot, Chief Pilot, Assistant Vice
President and Vice President of Flight Operations, and Senior Vice
President. Over the years, he has flown A300-B4, A300-600R, A340,
A330, and 747-400 aircraft.
Past management roles include corporate
safety, flight operations, cabin crew, system operation control,
finance, epidemic response, occupational safety and health,
Corporate Sustainability Committee, and Corporate Environmental
Committee.
China Airlines Chairman Su-Chien Hsieh had served
as the acting president of China Airlines since his appointment in
April 2019. Hsieh will now concentrate full-time on his role as
chairman.
