John O’Shea has been appointed General Manager of The
Langham, Gold Coast and The Jewel Residences, Gold Coast,
scheduled to open in 2022.
Born in Brisbane and raised in Queensland,
Australia, John has more than 40 years of hospitality industry experience.
He started his hospitality career in 1984 at the Sheraton
Brisbane,
and has since been involved in six
hotel openings and worked at five resorts in key travel
destinations across Asia Pacific.
His most recent role was
managing director of
Splash Beach Resort & Villas in Phuket,
Thailand where he oversaw the resort’s renovation and re-branding,
which comprised of 611 rooms, suites, penthouses and villas.
John first joined Langham in
2012 as General Manager of The Langham, Shanghai, Xintiandi. He was subsequently promoted to
Managing Director of Cordis Shanghai, Hongqiao where he also held
the corporate role of Vice President, Cordis Brand Experience and
Operational Standards. Prior to that, John held senior
leadership roles in hotels and resorts across Australia, China,
Japan, Thailand, Malaysia and Fiji.

John studied
Science and Psychology in the University of Queensland and holds a
Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Bond University, Gold
Coast.
