The Fusion Hotel Group in Vietnam has partnered with
Humane Society International (HSI), a global organization working
to protect animals.
The objective for Fusion is to improve animal
welfare in its supply chain by committing to sourcing 100 percent
cage-free eggs, both shell and liquid forms, in all existing and
future hotels in Vietnam, and elsewhere.
All of Fusion’s operations
running throughout Vietnam in Da Nang, Cam Ranh, Ho Chi Minh
(Saigon),
Hue, Phu Quoc, Quy Nhon and Vung Tau will start implementing the
use of cage-free eggs by 2021 and commit to 100 percent by 2025.
Phuong Tham, HSI Vietnam Country Director, said,
“We are delighted with the commitment of Fusion towards a
cage-free egg policy to help lead the way among hospitality
companies to a higher standard of corporate-social responsibility
for animal welfare in the country.”
Fusion’s efforts
to commit support animal welfare can already be seen at the
group's hotels in Hue
and Cam Ranh, as both properties utilize eggs from their very own
farms.
Battery cage systems are infamous world-wide for
confining hens in tiny spaces, often no bigger than an A4-sized sheet of
paper, therefore, denied the ability to move freely.
Samir Wildemann - Fusion’s Vice President,
Operations, said, “We are proud of our commitment to corporate
social responsibility and responsible consumption, which includes
animal welfare in our supply chain. There is a growing demand for
higher welfare and quality products and cage-free eggs are a key
example of humane and sustainable ingredients.”
Fusion Hotel Group joins leading multinational
companies in the hospitality industry, such as
IHG and
Four Seasons, that have made similar commitments to source only
cage-free eggs.
