UTair Helicopter Services has signed a deal with
Russian Helicopters for about 50 Mi-8AMT helicopters.
Delivery is expected to commence at the beginning
of 2022.
Andrei Boginsky, Director General of Russian
Helicopters, said, "UTair is the largest operator of Russian
helicopters and today's agreement aimed at the timely and
systematic airline's fleet renewal. One of the agreement terms is
to improve aircraft's efficiency further operation, which will
allow operating flights with a two-person crew. This option has
been implemented successfully on another helicopter, the most
modern Mi-171A2 whose first operator was UTair airline."
The Mi-8AMT
can transport up to 27 passengers and up to 4
tons of cargo. With a wide range
of additional equipment available, Mi-8AMT helicopters are often used
for
transport, passenger flights, fire fighting, EMS and SAR.
"In our plans to use 50 latest modification
helicopters to carry passengers and cargo within the oil and gas
projects framework for our customers, first of all - in the Vostok
Oil project of PJSC Rosneft," said Andrei Martirosov, CEO of UTair.
"Utair already operates more than 100 helicopters from the modern
Mi-17 family. The 50 new machines are an important part of our
fleet management plan implementation, as outlined in the airline's
financial model. Fleet replenishment will bring a positive
budgetary effect and will create many new jobs for pilots,
engineers and ground service workers."
