Minor Hotels has confirmed plans to rebrand the NH
Collection Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky as the Anantara Grand Hotel
Krasnapolsky Amsterdam in Autumn 2021.
The property, which will be Anantara's first hotel
in Holland, has over 155 years of history and dates back to 1866
when Mr. Adolph Wilhelm Krasnapolsky, a charismatic Polish tailor,
opened a tiny coffee house on the site. As it grew in popularity, he added rooms
for rent and later rebuilt it into a modern hotel.
In advance of the Autumn rebrand, the 402-room hotel
will
receive a soft refurbishment of the guest rooms, suites
and garden. A new spa and gym will also be added.
Located in Dam Square in the very heart of
Amsterdam, Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky has a private pier for boats on
the Oudezijds Voorburgwal Canal, is only a 25-minute
drive from Schiphol International Airport, and just 5 minutes from the
Amsterdam Central Station.
Dillip Rajakarier, Group CEO Minor International,
the parent company of Anantara, said, “We are delighted to be
continuing the expansion of our luxury Anantara brand in Europe
with the addition of Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky Amsterdam.
The historic hotel will be a fantastic addition to the Anantara
portfolio when it joins later this year after enhancements to the
property and represents an exciting milestone for the brand as the
first in Northern Europe.”
Anantara will continue its
expansion in Europe later this year with the rebrand of
two other hotels in Italy and Hungary – Anantara Palazzo Naiadi
Rome and Anantara New York Palace Budapest which will join the luxury
brand in Q4 2021.
Those two properties, in addition to Anantara Grand
Hotel Krasnapolsky, will complement the existing European
portfolio – Anantara Vilamoura Algarve Resort on the southern
coast of Portugal and Anantara Villa Padierna Palace in Marbella,
Spain.
