Singapore - Hong Kong Air Travel Bubble Set for Take Off on 26 May

Singapore and Hong Kong are having another go at establishing a travel bubble between the two cities, after the last two attempts both failed at the last minute.

The take off date for the Air Travel Bubble (ATB) between SIN and HKG is set for 26 May 2021.

The ATB will again be suspended if the seven-day moving average of the unlinked community cases in either Singapore or Hong Kong increases to above 5, it will then only resume when the COVID situation has stabilised.

The ATB will be launched under more stringent arrangements to better safeguard public health and provide greater stability.

Travellers on the ATB must have remained in either Singapore or Hong Kong in the 14 days prior to departure, excluding any time spent in quarantine or Stay-Home Notice (SHN) arising from their last return to Singapore or Hong Kong from overseas.

Hong Kong also requires its residents to be fully vaccinated against COVID19 before departing on the ATB flights. This means they can fly 14 days after receiving the second dose.

In addition, travellers must now  download and install Hong Kong’s LeaveHomeSafe (LHS) app on their mobile devices prior to leaving Singapore for Hong Kong.

Other than the above, the requirements for travellers from Singapore under the ATB remain the same as those announced in November 2020.

Requirements include undergoing COVID19 pre-departure and on arrival Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests in lieu of quarantine or SHN, and travel on designated ATB flights.

There will be no restrictions on the purpose of travel and no requirements for a controlled itinerary or sponsorship.

The ATB flights will be operated by Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific. Travellers from both cities must travel on designated flights serving only ATB travellers. Transit and non-ATB travellers are not allowed on the designated ATB flights.

From 26 May to 9 June 2021:

• Singapore to Hong Kong: 1 flight per day, with up to 200 travellers per flight; and

• Hong Kong to Singapore: 1 flight per day, with up to 200 travellers per flight.

From 10 June 2021 onwards:

• Singapore to Hong Kong: 2 flights per day, with up to 200 travellers per flight;

• Hong Kong to Singapore: 2 flights per day, with up to 200 travellers per flight.

The flights will be allocated equally between the two national carriers.
