Singapore Airlines has welcomed plans to reopen the
Victorian international border to fully-vaccinated Australian
citizens, permanent residents and eligible non-citizens from 1
November 2021.
The airline currently operates 14-weekly passenger
flights between Singapore and Melbourne.
“This is another welcome step
on the road to recovery and we are pleased to reconnect Victoria
with the world,” said Mr Louis Arul, Singapore Airlines Regional
Vice President South West Pacific. “Opening Victoria’s international border for
eligible passengers provides another avenue for Australians
stranded overseas to come home, with Singapore Airlines offering
31 flights a week to Sydney and Melbourne, two major Australian
gateways. We look forward to reconnecting families and loved ones
over the coming weeks and months ahead, and continuing to support
all levels of government in their efforts to reopen Australia’s
borders in a safe, scalable and sustainable way.”
Bookings on the Singapore-Melbourne and
Melbourne-Singapore route are available via various sales channels
for eligible customers on flights tagged as “For Eligible
Passengers Only” (FEPO).
Eligibility to travel on these services is
determined by the Australian Government and one must meet the
following criteria:
• Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident,
and
• Have been fully-vaccinated with a TGA approved
or recognised vaccine, and
• Have a vaccine certificate that meets the
Australian Government’s authenticity and verification
requirements.
Or
• Be an immediate family member of an Australian
citizen or permanent resident, or
• Is a non-Australian citizen or permanent
resident, and
• Holds a valid visa and a travel restriction
exemption, and
• Is fully-vaccinated with a TGA approved or
recognised vaccine, and
• Has a vaccine certificate that meets the
Australian Government’s authenticity and verification
requirements.
Customers are encouraged to
confirm their eligibility to travel to Australia uncapped on
these flights.
Singapore Airlines has said it will support
customers holding existing bookings for flights to Melbourne from
1 November 2021 onwards, assisting with confirming eligibility for
them to travel on the new FEPO flights or support rebooking to a
capped service.
