IHG has signed the first two voco hotels in Scotland,
the voco Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow and the voco Edinburgh –
Haymarket in the country's capital city.
The voco Grand Central Hotel
(pictured), an enduring monument
to Victorian glamour, features 230 rooms, a Champagne bar, extensive meeting & event spaces,
and a restaurant which serves the very best of Scottish cuisine.
The hotel is attached to Glasgow Central Station,
is close to the subway, and is just a short walk from the
monuments of famous Scots in George Square, or fashion boutiques
on The Style Mile.
The voco Edinburgh –
Haymarket, a new-build hotel, is located in the West End of
Edinburgh, just one mile from the city centre. From the
hotel you can easily walk to the nearby West End Tram Stop (0.3
miles), Haymarket Railway Station (0.8 miles), and reach Edinburgh
Castle and bustling Princes Street in just a few minutes.
The hotel will feature 150 rooms and suites, an all-day
restaurant and a destination-led bar.
Both hotels are scheduled to officially open in March 2021.
Karan Khanna, Managing Director UK & Ireland, IHG
Hotels & Resorts, said, “We are delighted to see our voco brand
enter the Scottish hotel market. Both properties reflect the voco
brand proposition, being reliably different while celebrating each
hotel’s individual spirit and character.
“Since launching in 2018,
voco has seen extraordinary growth and is proving popular with
owners and developers alike given its strong conversion appeal.
After launching the brand in China and the US just a few months
ago, I am truly delighted that we’re now also entering a new
market a little closer to home. We are all hopeful for a safe and
continued lifting of lockdown restrictions so we can fully open
the doors to these wonderful hotels for our guests to enjoy.”
IHG currently has ten voco hotels open across
Europe, including Cardiff, Oxford and Reading in the UK.
