Thai AirAsia has reported that its flights from Don Mueang
(DMK) to Chiang Mai (CNX), Chiang Rai (CEI)
and Hat Yai (HDY) are the three most popular routes since it
resumed service on 3 September.
On
average, 80% of the available seats on those routes are already booked
up to 15 September and based on the 75% maximum capacity per flight allowed by
the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand.
The airline says flights to
northeastern destinations of Khon Kaen, Ubon Ratchathani, Udon
Thani and Nakhon Panom have also been well received.
Thus far, Thai AirAsia has resumed flights on 11
routes from Don Mueang to Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Hat Yai, Khon
Kaen, Nakhon Panom, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Narathiwat, Phuket,
Roi-Et, Ubon Ratchathani and Udon Thani.
“We have seen a
very positive response within the first three days of returning to
service especially for popular destinations such as Chiang Mai,
Chiang Rai and Hat Yai, which achieved load factors as high as 90%
and we foresee the demand to continue on a good momentum,” said
Mr. Santisuk Klongchaiya, AirAsia Thailand Chief Executive Officer.
“These
are very encouraging signs for the aviation business and tourism
industry, which we expect to begin recovering very soon.”
In
anticipation of higher demand as the traditional high season
approaches, Thai AirAsia is planning to increase
flight frequencies to select destinations and possibly expand its
route network as required.
