Artotel has expanded its portfolio of hotels
with the opening of a new property on Batam, the closest
Indonesian island to Singapore and the third busiest entry port to
Indonesia after Bali and Jakarta.
Artotel Batam is located in the Penuin Centre
shopping area on Batu Selicin street, the business and trade area of Batam city.
The hotel is just a
30-minute drive from Hang Nadim International Airport and a
10 minutes away by car from Harbour Bay & Batam Centre Port.

Hakim, Director of PT Ozon Hotel International
says, “As the tourism sector slowly recovers and the borders open
up, we are delighted to open Artotel Batam. It is a great collaboration between our company and Artotel
Group – an experienced hotel operator in Indonesia. The first artsy
hotel in Batam, Artotel Batam is a fantastic showcase of the
art-infused hotel that represents a diverse array of Indonesian
culture. With our spacious rooms and facilities, we look forward
to delivering an exceptional stay experience to both holiday and
business travelers.”
Artotel Batam features 138 guest rooms in
two categories: Studio 30 and the larger Studio 45.
Facilities at the hotel include two
F&B outlets, three meeting rooms which can
accommodate up to 120 people, and an art gallery which will host
regular exhibitions of art made or created by Indonesian artists,
especially those who are from Batam.
True to its name, Artotel Batam also worked with four
young Indonesian artists to help decorate the property: Katon Bagaskara,
Mohammad Taufiq, Nus Solomon and Tempa. They collaborated to
create contemporary artwork with a ‘Silk Road’ theme telling the
story about the vital trade route between East and West. The artwork
is embedded with traditional elements of Indonesia, such as shadow
puppets, batik and also the country’s flora and fauna.
Eduard Rudolf Pangkerego, Chief Operating Officer
for Artotel Group said, “The pandemic is not fully over yet but we
all know that it is more controlled now. It is great to see the
borders opening up and people start traveling again. As we recover
stronger, Artotel Group celebrates another milestone with the
opening of Artotel Batam.”
