AirAsia Malaysia has unveiled plans to expand
operations and resume flights to many key destinations in
India, including Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Tiruchirappalli and more (flight code AK).
To celebrate the resumption of 30
additional weekly flights to India launching this month and next
month, the airline is offering individual customers and travel agents
with a 20% discount
to all Indian destinations from Malaysia through the airasia Super
App until 1 May 2022, along with complimentary 20kg check-in
baggage allowance for each booking.
Ms. C. Sushma, the Chargé d'Affaires of the High
Commission of India in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, said, “This is an important step
in reconnecting India and Malaysia as people to people connectivity lies at the foundation of this important partnership.
AirAsia has been offering low-cost flights to India since 2008,
connecting travellers from Kuala Lumpur to multiple destinations
in India. We warmly welcome the resumption of direct commercial
flights between India and Malaysia after two long years.”

Over 95% of AirAsia Malaysia's passengers now use
the contactless
self-check-in service via the airasia Super App and its website,
an initiative that was encouraged at the height of the COVID19
pandemic.
Since 1 April 2022, AirAsia’s
counter check-in service is strictly only for exempt
categories of guests at all airports in Malaysia. Among the exempt
groups are senior citizens aged 70 and above, people with
disabilities registered with the Welfare Department, young
passengers travelling alone, group bookings of 10 guests and more
as well as charter flight passengers.
Riad Asmat, CEO of AirAsia Malaysia, said, “Today marks an
important milestone for AirAsia as we prepare for a significant
resumption of flights to many core destinations in one of our most
important markets, India. With borders being reopened across the region, AirAsia
will continue to review and add to our expanding network to
cater for the increasing demand for air travel, including 30 total
weekly flights from Malaysia to India launching by the end of May.
Furthermore, with a total of 71 weekly flights to be operated by
the end of 2022, AirAsia Malaysia will be soon returning to pre-COVID19
capacity, flying more than 140 weekly services to and from India. Our aircraft
engines are revved up and we wish to assure everyone that we
remain committed to upholding the highest standards of safety and
hygiene at all times. Every AirAsia Allstar on-ground and in the
air is fully vaccinated and ready to provide world-class service
and the best quality guest experience alongside stringent safety
rules and procedures to give our guests total peace of mind.”
