Fiji Airways has resumed flights from Nadi to
Wellington, Auckland and Christchurch, New Zealand.
The airline launched twice weekly direct flights
to Wellington and
daily flights to Auckland on Wednesday, and today launches a twice
weekly service to
Christchurch.
The routes were suspended for over two years due
to COVID19 travel restrictions.
Travellers to Fiji now only need to show proof of
vaccination, a negative pre-departure rapid test taken 24-hours
prior, a pre-booked post-arrival rapid test and travel insurance.
Warm welcome on Fiji Airways
“We're excited to give our Wellington-based whanau
a long-awaited "bula" welcome on board after more than two years
apart,” said Andre Viljoen, Fiji Airways Managing Director and CEO.
“All of our
guests can expect a special journey to our islands owed to the
over 60 ways we've enhanced our service since we last flew to
Wellington, from the increased baggage allowance from 23kg to 30kg
in economy, the food we serve and a new way to keep our younger
guests entertained onboard with our complimentary in-flight
activity pack and book series.”
Fiji
Airways now offers customers a larger
standard baggage allowance of 30kg for economy passengers on
international flights, free access to a digital reading platform PressReader with over 7,000 international newspapers and magazines
and, for younger passengers, the Our Ocean Our Life in-flight
activity packs and book series.
A new seasonal Business Class menu by
the renowned Kiwi-Fijian Head Chef Richard Cross is now available
onboard, as well as a new range of international
wines.
The new resort check-in
feature - available at the Sofitel Fiji Resort and
Spa, Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort and Radisson Blu Resort
Fiji - enables travellers on Fiji Airways international flights to check
themselves and their luggage onto the flight with boarding passes
issued directly at the resort. This enables them to head straight for security when
they arrive at the airport.
Steve Sanderson, Wellington Airport CEO, said,
“After years of limited opportunity for overseas travel, it is
fantastic to have exciting and convenient destinations available
again, and just in time for Easter and the school holidays. Our
partnership with Fiji Airways is highly valued and we have worked
hard together to re-establish this route. This forms a key part of
our plans to reconnect Wellington with the world and we are
looking forward to the continued recovery of international travel
and tourism.”
