The airline plans to operate eighteen routes to
seven countries starting this April, providing a total 38 flights
per week with the aim of reinstating up to 81 flights per week by
May 2022.
“AirAsia’s resumption of international flights has
been much awaited by both the airline and our guests,” said Mr. Santisuk Klongchaiya,
AirAsia Thailand Chief Executive Officer. “We chose to resume
routes to countries that share Thailand’s reopening policy so that
our guests can travel without having to worry about quarantine.
The routes cover ASEAN and South Asian countries and we are
working closely with the
Tourism Authority of Thailand and relevant agencies to attract
visitors to Thailand while maintaining and adhering to public
health measures. With foreign travelers being able to travel
throughout Asia, we’ll be leveraging the AirAsia domestic network,
helping to generate revenue to all of the nation’s regions.”
With countries in the region beginning to relax
their entry requirements, travellers can fly with AirAsia from
Thailand without quarantine, while those arriving in Thailand will be able to
bypass quarantine with the Test & Go Scheme by registering for an
electronic Thailand Pass entry certificate in advance of departure.
Travellers are strongly advised to check the very
latest travel requirements of each country they plan to visit
before departure.
