Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) has
expanded its portfolio with
three charming properties in Ireland:
Cahernane House Hotel in Killarney, The Lansdowne in Kenmare and The Montenotte
Hotel in Cork.
Located on a private estate at the edge
of the rugged Killarney National Park, yet within walking distance
of
Killarney city centre, the historic 48-bedroom
Cahernane House
Hotel overlooks moss-covered, rolling landscapes, majestic
mountains and the Killarney Lakes.
Originally built in 1877 as a family residence for
Henry Herbert, with a history dating back to the 1600s, the hotel
features a two AA Rosette fine dining experience in The Herbert
Restaurant and a bar located in the property’s original basement
wine cellar.
Cahernane House Hotel
One of the oldest landmarks in Kenmare,
The Lansdowne
Kenmare was originally built as the town residence of the 2nd Earl
of Shelbourne. Purchased during lockdown by TV
personality brothers John and Francis Brennan, the hotel was
lovingly reimagined and reopened in July of last year.
The hotel offers 28 bedrooms,
several dining options, including The LK Café, serving speciality
coffee and sweet treats; The Dining Bar Terrace, headed by Chef
Paul Walsh, is reminiscent of a French brasserie; while the hotel’s latest opening, the Piano Lounge,
is where Champagne and cocktails are served in a stylish setting with
live piano thrown in at weekends.
Swathed in a striking blue façade,
The Montenotte Hotel in Cork brims with vibrant
interiors. Think pops of colour married with luxurious velvet
furniture interspersed within the hotel’s 107 rooms and suites.
You’ll find everything you need under the
18-century roof, from a cinema to an indoor swimming pool, sauna,
steam room, jacuzzi, gym and a spa with six treatment rooms. The Glasshouse, Montenotte’s new art-deco rooftop bar, has views to be
enjoyed over a glass of inspired cocktails; The
Panorama Bistro leads to the Panorama Terrace which
overlooks postcard-worthy views of Cork city and the hotel’s
sunken Victoria Gardens.
The hotel is only a 15-minute walk away from the Cork
city centre, where guests will find a host of outdoor experiences
from stand-up paddle boarding to cycle tours and harbour cruises.
