The Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues Geneva has
launched a masterclass in the art of floristry.
Participants will learn insider techniques to style
bouquets, learning which colours and varieties work best to create
the perfect floral sculpture.
Taking place on 23 June 2022, the masterclass will
be led by one of Switzerland's leading floral stylists, Serge Marzetta.
Born in Neuchatel northeast of Geneva, Serge studied landscape
horticulture and, at the start of his career, worked closely with
Thérèse Grübert, the country’s celebrated florist crowned
Worldwide Florist Champion in 1970. Serge is today one of the many
talents behind Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues, creating beautiful displays that complement the interiors of the
hotel. He takes pride in sourcing flowers and plants from small,
local producers, while also looking further afield to northern
Italy and France.

“Participants will learn how to play
with textures, use greenery for contrast, and give life to each
flower. Each composition is entirely unique, transferring a very
personal message,” said Serge. “As a florist, I am lucky to
always work with feelings. Whether celebrating a birth or
someone’s life, flowers are exceptionally rich in emotions.”
The
masterclass allows guests to take their flower arranging skills to
the next level, building on their imagination to give life to
bunches of wonderful seasonal blooms designed with thought and
creativity.
At the beginning of the course, participants are
provided with a selection of flowers, learning how to care and
condition them to make them ready for use. They will discover how
best to clean the flowers, strip the leaves, and trim the stems
before constructing their bouquet. Serge will also teach
participants how best to display their arrangement in a vase,
working on balance, unity and harmony. With a maximum of 12
participants, the class size is deliberately kept small to provide
supportive learning and one-to-one support.
“Each participant will be able to let his or her
creativity shine. The final bouquet will reflect the individual’s
character and emotions,” Serge added.
The masterclass
will take place in the first-floor Salon Petit Mont Blanc, which
offers views of Lake Geneva and the Jet d’Eau. At the
end of the class, a selection of canapés and Champagne can be
enjoyed in the salon or on the balcony, offering participants the
chance to soak up magnificent views while conversing with Serge.
The Flowers & Bubbles masterclass is priced
at CHF 300 per person.
