Thai AirAsia will next month launch its first
international route from Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), becoming the
only low cost carrier to connect the airport with Kuala Lumpur
(KUL), Malaysia.
The new flights mean that those travelling between
Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur will be able to choose flights that
either land at or depart from Don Mueang International Airport
(DMK) or Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK), depending on
which is most convenient for them.
Thai AirAsia will operate the Kuala Lumpur - Suvarnabhumi
route with two flights per day from 20 June 2022.

Santisuk Klongchaiya, Chief
Executive Officer of AirAsia Thailand, said, “AirAsia’s flight base
at Suvarnabhumi Airport has been very well received. At present,
the carrier operates three domestic routes from Suvarnabhumi,
flying to Chiang Mai, Phuket and Krabi, and from June onwards will
be operating our first international route with Suvarnabhumi-Kuala
Lumpur. The flight will take travellers to Malaysia’s capital and
economic centre, a city rich in commerce and tourism, while
expanding options for those coming from Kuala Lumpur to land at
either Don Mueang Airport (thrice daily) or Suvarnabhumi
Airport (two times daily). From Kuala Lumpur, travellers can
further connect to various destinations in Malaysia as well as
across ASEAN.”
Fully vaccinated travellers between Thailand and
Malaysia are no longer required to present a COVID19 test result
or undergo quarantine on arrival. Thailand is also abolishing the
Thailand Pass requirement for Thai Nationals to enter the country
from 1 June 2022. Foreigners are still required to complete the
Thailand Pass.
