Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) has become the sole shareholder of AsiaWorld-Expo
(AWE), following the Hong Kong Governments transfer of all its interests in AWE.
Before the transfer of interests, the Government
and AAHK jointly owned AWE.
AAHK is taking forward AWEs Phase 2 development,
which upon completion will house Hong Kongs largest indoor
multipurpose performance arena with over 20,000 seats and
state-of-the-art facilities. The Phase 2 expansion will also
increase AWEs total exhibition space to 100,000 square metres.
AsiaWorld-Expo is one of the leading MICE venues in the region
AWE is one of the prime venues for conventions,
exhibitions, sports, entertainment events, business showcases, and
premium consumer-oriented events, not only in Hong Kong but the
region.
AWE is also an integral part of Skycity, a core element
of the Airport City development strategy. Apart from AWE, Skycity includes 11 Skies
- one of Hong Kongs largest retail, dining and
entertainment complexes, as well as offices and hotels.
The expanded
AWE will enjoy synergy with 11 Skies and other Skycity
developments, helping to attract visitors from overseas, the
Greater Bay Area, and Hong Kong.
AAHK acquired the ownership of the company that
manages and operates AWE in 2018.
