The Slate resort on Nai Yang Beach in the north
west of Phuket, Thailand is aiming to tap into more of the
domestic market by becoming dog-friendly.
Guests staying in a One Bedroom Pool Villa,
Two-Bedroom Family Pool Villa or Two Bedroom Pool Villa are now
allowed to bring up to two dogs of up to 7.5kg in size with them.
During their stay, the pampered pups will be able
to unwind in their beautiful villa, sleep in their own comfortable
dog bed, which will be provided by The Slate, and even cool off in
the private pool.
Dogs are now allowed to stay with guests at The Slate Phuket
Food and water bowls will be set up in the room,
daily doggie treats will be provided at turndown, and The Slate
will give every canine guest an exclusive and signature dog tag for their leash.
The hotel will charge THB 1,500++ (plus
tax and service charge) per dog, per night.
A series of 'Furry Services', including a nutritious gourmet menu,
as well as dog walking and sitting services, are available for an
additional charge.
For complete peace-of-mind, veterinary services will be
available on call.
“At The Slate, we understand that for many people,
their dogs are an important part of their family,” said the
hotel’s co-founder and owner, Krystal Prakaikaew
Na-Ranong. “We want to make it easier for every guest
to travel and stay in style with their pooches. Our pool villas
will let pets unwind and live the life of luxury – swimming in
their private pool, dining from a gourmet menu and even wearing
The Slate’s dog tag with pride! We can’t wait to welcome our
four-legged friends to Phuket this summer.”
To ensure the comfort of all other guests, The
Slate has created some house rules for its canine clientele. All
dogs must be free from fleas or ticks, their vaccinations must be
up-to-date, and they must be kept on a leash when not in the
villa.
Poop bags will be provided to owners who must take care of
their pets’ mess, and while The Slate loves all tail-waggers to be
happy and playful, they must also be relatively quiet and under
control.
Pets are not permitted in the
resort’s public areas such as swimming pools, restaurants, the Coqoon Spa and fitness centre.
Editor's note:
Page amended on 7 May to change the price from THB 1,500 to 1,500++
