Malaysia's SKS Airways to Lease Ten E195-E2
Aircraft; Signs Services Deal with Embraer
(25/05/23)
Malaysia’s SKS Airways has signed a lease
agreement with Azorra for 10 Embraer
E195-E2 single-aisle
aircraft.
The E195-E2s will form the core of SKS Airways’
regional expansion plans and will be based at Kuala Lumpur’s city airport, Subang, from 2024.
The jets, which will be configured with 136
seats, have a range of 2,600nm, the
equivalent of about seven hours of flight.
SKS Airways’ operations will benefit from the
AHEAD (Aircraft Health Analysis and Diagnosis) which comprises
early detection capabilities for critical systems, reducing
technical interruptions and avoiding flight cancellations; eSight, with real-time fleet performance monitoring; and the ePerf,
a tablet application for pilots to generate runway performance
data offline from the cockpit in any phase of flight.
SKS
Airways will be the first E195-E2 operator in the Southeast Asia
region, growing Embraer’s E-Jets presence in the broader Asia
Pacific region which currently stands close to 200.
“This is a significant day
for the future of aviation in Malaysia,” said Dato' Rohman Ahmad,
Director of SKS Airways. “We
are excited to embark on a new phase of growth with a fleet of
Embraer’s Jets operating out of Subang. The prevalence of the
E-Jets at city airports around the world and the low noise
emissions of the E195-E2 makes the aircraft a perfect fit for
flights in and out of Subang Airport – supporting the government’s
aim to establish Subang Airport as Malaysia’s premium city airport
and aviation hub.”
In February 2023, the
Malaysian government announced the Subang Airport Regeneration
Plan (SARP), a transformational plan for Subang Airport to be
developed into a premium city airport and regional aviation hub.
Airlines have deployed E-Jets on routes to
and from city airports around the world such as London City
Airport, New York’s LaGuardia Airport and Rio de Janeiro’s Santos
Dumont Airport. The E-Jets represent 86% of total flights
operating at London City Airport with airlines such as British Airways, Helvetic
Airways (operating for SWISS) and KLM.
“We are pleased to partner with SKS Airways on this unique
opportunity to be a part of the future expansion of Subang
Airport,” said John
Evans, Azorra’s CEO. “We believe Embraer’s new technology E2 is the perfect fit
for a redeveloped, premier aviation hub near the heart of Kuala
Lumpur, reducing travel times and improving connectivity in the
region. The E2’s fuel efficiency, carbon footprint and low noise
emissions offer a transformative, environmentally conscious jet
solution for the city, the region, and its residents.”
Embraer has signed a long-term services agreement with SKS to
support the airline’s 10 E195-E2 fleet.
The contract provides
access to the Pool Program, which includes component exchanges and
repair services for more than 300 repairable parts to support SKS
Airways’ Embraer aircraft, plus eSolutions to enhance fleet
monitoring and preventive maintenance.
“The E2
delivers the best environmental efficiency and operating
performance and the impressive data from our existing E-Jet
customers prove it,” said Johann Bordais, President & CEO, Embraer
Services & Support. “We are very pleased to have SKS join the Pool
Program which will deliver great value for their operations.”
