IndiGo to Order 30 A350-900s Powered by 60 Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-84s

Dark/Light Mode (26/04/24)  IndiGo has agreed to place a firm order for 30 Airbus A350-900 aircraft that will be powered by 60 Trent XWB-84s with health and maintenance of the engines covered by Rolls-Royce’s TotalCare service.

In addition to the firm order for thirty A350-900s, IndiGo has options for an additional 70 A350 Family aircraft.

Currently, IndiGo operates over 350 aircraft and has an outstanding orderbook for almost 1,000 A320 Family (A320neo, A321neo and A321XLR) planes which are yet to be delivered well into the next decade.

The exact configuration of the aircraft will be decided at a later stage, with deliveries expected to start from 2027.

IndiGo is amongst the fastest growing airlines in the world, and this order will allow it to strengthen its growth trajectory.

Flying to more than 110 domestic and international destinations, IndiGo flew 100 million passengers in 2023 and is among the fastest growing airlines in the world.

The new order will power the airline’s expansion plans, particularly its growing footprint on international routes.

With a 15% fuel consumption advantage over the first generation of Trent engines, the Trent XWB goes further on less fuel and offers leading performance and noise levels. It is also certified to operate on a 50% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) blend today and has been proven to be compatible with 100% SAF for the future.
